Melanie Sarder of “Melanie’s Mittens and More” is An Artisan’s Emporium’s Featured Artist for January.  Melanie, who still has family ties in Michigan, is well known for her mittens both in North Carolina and in Michigan.  She makes her mittens out of old woolen sweaters and chooses her patterns very carefully to make some of the most beautiful mittens you’ve ever seen.  Not only does she make mittens, but she uses the leftover fabric to make woolen Christmas Tree ornaments and also makes trivets out of the seams of the sweater  so the whole sweater is recycled.  Melanie also does lots of crochet work including messy bun beanies and pompom beanies in all sizes, hanging dish towels for every season and occasion, cotton dish cloths, snowmen and Santa baby hats and crochet ladder yarn necklaces.

Melanie will be in An Artisan’s Emporium to discuss her beautiful items on Saturday, January 13th from 11am-2pm. Stop by to talk with her and pick out your pair of handmade woolen mittens to keep your hands warm the rest of the winter.  You can also find information about all her products on her Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/melaniesmittensandmore/.  Check out Melanie’s article on our webpage at https://anartisansemporium.weebly.com/.
